New York Fashion Week opened with a star-studded catwalk show. The Heart Truth is a national awareness campaign in America for women about heart disease sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The red dress was introduced as the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness in 2002. Performer Dita Von Teese walks the runway in a Zac Posen dress at the show during Mecerdes-Benz Fashion Week at the Lincoln Center in New York on Wednesday, February 9.

GEMS Documentary Screening
February 11, 2011All Souls Church screened the award-winning documentary “Very Young Girls” to support G.E.M.S. (Girls Educational and Mentoring Services) in their work with young women aged 12-21 in New York City. The film is a powerful & moving exposé of the commercial sexual exploitation of adolescent girls in New York City. This event had a direct impact on our community by raising awareness and funds and will also help in combating this atrocity through advocacy.
